Virginia Beach, Va - Electronic Systems (ESI) has expanded its business solutions offerings to include asset recycling. The 25-year old Virginia company has rounded out its lifecycle management offerings with an environmentally conscious method for relieving companies of the burden of technology asset disposal.
ESI's "shredder" reduces computers into E-Scrap, or nickel sized pieces of plastic and metal that can then be recycled for future use in the manufacturing process. Electronic Systems picks up outdated technology and brings it to its secure warehouse in which it is shredded.
Excess electronic devices contain constituents that if improperly handled could be harmful to the environment. Certain components may contain small amounts of RCRA regulated heavy metals, including lead, silver, barium, cadmium and mercury. Many of these metals can be recovered and recycled by de-manufacturing and recycling.
According to Bill Breckenridge, recycling manager for ESI, "Annual corporate technology refreshes produce more than 315 Million obsolete computers annually, which account for 1% of total US solid waste. This is illustrated by growing disposal regulations and restrictions on the handling of confidential company information."
Recycling stockpiled electronics is environmentally conscious, economically efficient and the most secure method for disposing of sensitive information.
