47 Environmental, Social and Governance Report 2023 PILLAR 2: PROPERTY PORTFOLIO ESR continues to integrate environmental considerations into the design and construction of new developments, as well as the operation of existing assets through planned upgrades and retrofits. Our buildings undergo credible and globally recognised sustainable building certification and rating schemes, which guide us in developing and operating buildings that are more efficient, less pollutive, and healthier for our occupants. These certifications provide tangible benefits including higher asset valuations, lower operational costs, additional health & well-being benefits, increased adoption of sustainable building designs and material; and the wider use of energy-efficient plant and equipment. These efforts are part of our goal to manage a global portfolio of best-in-class and sustainable assets. We achieved a total of 250 building certifications and ratings across our portfolio. 12 of our newly completed assets with around 1 million sqm GFA have completed certification in 2023. 169 of our completed standing assets (excluding those completed in 2023) are certified under one or more standards in our standing investments portfolio, representing over 12 million sqm GFA.
