OUR Approach

At ESR, we recognise the need to evolve to meet the rapidly changing needs of our customers, investors, communities and our own people. From climate change to digitalisation, our world is transforming, and we seek excellence in Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) to best navigate it for the prosperity of our stakeholders.

ESR, supported by its global team of ESG specialists, works to ensure ESG aspects are well considered in our acquisition of assets, developments and ongoing asset and funds management. In our properties, we pursue decarbonisation, clean energy technology, climate resilience, environmental efficiency, and well-being and amenities for users. We prepare them for the future, including with market-leading green building certifications. We are committed to the development of an inclusive, diverse and high-performing workforce, and our business units around Asia Pacific proudly engage with and support numerous communities.

ESR is a signatory to the United Nations Principles for Responsible Investment (UNPRI).

Our Commitments

Our vision for sustainable development and ESG Framework are aligned to six of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) from the United Nations 2030 Agenda, as well as the United Nations-supported Principles for Responsible Investment (UN PRI). Both the SDGs and UN PRI help to guide our business strategies towards sustainability and achieve our overall mission.

Maintain a safe working environment by achieving zero ESR workforce fatalities and promoting the holistic well-being of our people.

Commit to fostering workplaces embracing diversity and are free from discrimination, and achieve a gender ratio target as part of the overall diversity, equity & inclusion plan with monitoring actions and progress.

Meet recognised sustainable design and construction standards to embrace smarter ways to reduce our environmental impact.

Uphold the highest standards of corporate governance throughout the enlarged Group, with strong core values and business ethics.

Enhance community involvement and philanthropic activities through a series of planned activities involving our stakeholders.

Build assets in strategic locations, with a sustainability focus on site
selection, efficient design, green construction and energy-efficient operations.

Six Principles for Responsible Investment

  • Principle 2: We will be active owners and incorporate ESG issues into our ownership policies and practices.
  • Principle 3: We will seek appropriate disclosure on ESG issues by the entities in which we invest.
  • Principle 4: We will promote acceptance and implementation of the Principles within the investment industry.
  • Principle 5: We will work together to enhance our effectiveness in implementing the Principles.
  • Principle 6: We will each report on our activities and progress towards implementing the Principles.
